Join us on a thrilling journey through the rugged beauty of Northern Ireland as we explore the iconic filming locations of Game of Thrones on my 30th birthday. From the mystical Dark Hedges to the majestic Giant’s Causeway, follow along as we embark on a four-day adventure filled with stunning landscapes, charming towns, and a touch of fantasy. Day 1: Setting Off on a Birthday Adventure

It’s my 30th birthday, and what better way to celebrate than embarking on a road trip adventure through Northern Ireland! As a devoted travel blogger with a passion for exploring new places, we’ve always dreamed of visiting the iconic locations where Game of Thrones was filmed. This is the perfect opportunity to make that dream come true.

We started my journey in Belfast, where we rented a car for the ultimate road trip experience. My first stop was the Dark Hedges, an enchanting tree-lined road featured in Game of Thrones as the Kingsroad. Walking through this mystical avenue of beech trees was like stepping into a fantasy world.

For lunch, we stopped by the charming town of Ballycastle and indulged in some traditional Irish cuisine at a local pub. Pizza with freshly squuzed orange juice seemed like the perfect way to fuel up for the adventures ahead.

Next, we made my way to Ballintoy, a picturesque coastal village that served as the setting for the Iron Islands in Game of Thrones. The rugged cliffs and crashing waves made we feel like we was on the edge of the Seven Kingdoms. This incredible journey brought we to Castle Ward, a National Trust property that served as the backdrop for Winterfell. Game of Thrones fans will recognize the iconic courtyard and archery range. we even tried my hand at archery!

We checked into a cozy bed and breakfast in Bushmills for a good night’s rest. The nearby Giant’s Causeway and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge were on my itinerary for tomorrow.

Day 2: Exploring the Northern Coast

After a hearty Irish breakfast, we headed to the Giant’s Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its unique hexagonal basalt columns. The natural wonder was as awe-inspiring as we had imagined. It’s no wonder they chose this location for some iconic Game of Thrones scenes.

For lunch, we savored some Veggie Irish cuisine at a local cafe with a view of the Causeway. It was a fantastic way to recharge before my next adventure.

We couldn’t leave the area without visiting the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge. Crossing the swaying bridge high above the sea is a thrilling experience but unfortunately, it now closed. However, one can view the magnificant bridge far off from the costal cliff. It’s no wonder they used this location to represent the Stormlands in the show.
